Seniors for Seniors Adoption Program

Why not improve your overall well being by adopting one of our Senior Companions?

Research shows that companion animals can improve health and happiness for all people regardless of age, health, social or economic status. Senior pets make wonderful companions for many reasons. They protect you from boredom and loneliness. They are calmer and make you feel more secure at home. Generally, pet owners get more exercise and outdoor activity. Lizzie

Kitty "Lizzie" was a tiny kitten adopted 10 years ago. We thought we had a wonderful home for her, but it turned out not so. 7 years ago, the family euthanized her brother because they were moving and he got scared and ran into the rafters. When they tried to grab him out, he bit due to being nervous. The husband didn't care and demanded to put this sweet 3 year old scared boy to sleep. We had NO IDEA they did that until it was too late. We knew there was an issue and tried to address it, but they decided to hide the fact that they wanted to kill him rather than help him. Forward 7 years later and they now have reupholstered furniture. Rather than put nail caps on Kitty Lizzie OR furniture protectors, they decided to look into declawing a senior cat and/or euthanizing a wonderful, sweet LOVING girl. Seems their material things mean more to them than a life. So between us and their vet, we swooped in to save her before any harm could come to her.

Kitty Lizzie will ONLY go to the best of best homes. So please understand, we will be picky. We want her life to be purrfect.

Kitty comes with a few things of her own. She enjoys wet and dry food. Good quality. Has had a wonderful check up at the vet too. She is loving. We don't know how she will be with other pets yet, we are looking into that, but right now a nice quiet home that will treat her like the Princess she is would be great. One with tons of love.

Serious inquiries only please.

Ms Kitty (Urgent Need)

Miss Kitty needs a new home because her owner unexpectedly had to go into assisted living. She is eight years old and is very sweet. She has been with the same person her entire life and she would do best in a quieter home as a single kitty as she has never lived with cats before.

Can anyone help?

If so, please contact saracats.julia@gmail.com

One Eyed Louie

Louie is one of 6 Newark NJ cats who were put out on the street after their human mom died. They were painstakingly gathered up over the course of two months.

Louie is estimated to be possibly 9 years old, neutered, negative for FIV and leukemia, vaccinated.

He's large in physique and weight. He is missing one eye but it gives him his special character and doesn't cause him any issues.

He's intelligent and engaging. He is mellow. He likes to sidle up next to you on the couch and place a paw on your lap. You can have a conversation with him -- he looks you right in the eye and listens to ya! Big as he is, he can easily be picked up and held.
He is agile, spends time high and low and jumping around on cat trees. Likes window access.

Louie's an enthusiastic and flexible eater. He definitely needs to lose some pounds but it's hard to police eating in the foster environment. We ARE using slow-feeder mats to slow him down, and he's not getting any dry food at all.

His age is an estimate because original paperwork was not available. He was neutered years ago (and eartipped because caretaker continued to let him go outside part of the day) but we've updated his, tests, vaccines and confirmed his neuter status.

If so, please contact dapsanimals@gmail.com

NOTE: Adopters must be at least 55 or older. All cats are spayed, neutered, and vaccinated.
